Calne Without Parish Council considered its budget for the year 2019/20 at the meeting on the 10thDecember 2019 and resolved to approve a budget requiring a precept of £24,000, a band D charge of £17.97 per annum.
The increase reflects the increased running costs to the Council of complying with the General Data Protection Regulations and the cost of supplying services to the community such as waste bin provision and emptying. The budget will also allow the Council to respond to resident’s requests on highways/road safety issues, maintenance/ improvement of footpaths, gateway features to the villages and improved communication. The additional money will also facilitate the spending of the Community Infrastructure Levy funds that the Council has received from developments being carried out in the area.
Councillors noted that even with the rise the Parish would still have the lowest Band D charge in the local area.
The Parish Council now submits its precept request to Wiltshire Council, with a final decision made by them in March as part of the Council tax setting process.
